October 3, 2026 | 7:00 AM | University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City As the morning sun rose over the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Rotarians and friends gathered not merely to walk, but to stand united for a cause that transcends generations: a world free from polio.
On October 3, 2026, the Rotary Club of Cubao Sunrise held its ceremonial End Polio Walk, marking the launch of its celebration of World Polio Day. Every step carried a message of hope, every participant represented a commitment to service, and every stride reaffirmed Rotary’s determination to protect children from a disease that can be prevented but has yet to be eradicated worldwide.
The meaningful gathering was graced by GOV Rhyan Virrey, Rotary International District 3780 Governor; DGN Edgardo Aguirre; and Past District Governors Dulce Coyukiat and Edgardo Ayento. Joining them were district committee chairpersons, club members, other The Legacy Presidents (TLPs) participants, and friends who shared a common purpose: to keep the fight against polio alive in the hearts and minds of communities.
Their presence underscored an essential truth about Rotary service: lasting change becomes possible when leaders, clubs, and communities move together toward one shared vision. Beyond the ceremonial walk, the gathering became a visible expression of solidarity—a reminder that the mission to end polio belongs to everyone.
For decades, Rotary has stood at the forefront of the global effort to eradicate polio through advocacy, fundraising, immunization support, and community mobilization. The progress achieved is a testament to what sustained commitment and international cooperation can accomplish. Yet, the mission remains unfinished. As long as polio exists anywhere, children everywhere remain at risk.
For the Rotary Club of Cubao Sunrise, launching its World Polio Day celebration through this walk was a deliberate act of advocacy. It transformed a simple morning activity into a powerful statement: we will not stop until every child is protected.
The walk also reflected the heart of Rotary’s mission—service that goes beyond words and becomes action. Whether through a single step, a shared message, or a commitment to support vaccination efforts, everyone has a role in bringing the world closer to a polio-free future.
As the participants walked together at UP Diliman, they carried more than banners or a campaign message. They carried the hopes of children, the determination of generations of Rotarians, and the promise that the fight against polio will continue until the disease is finally defeated.
The road to eradication may not yet be complete, but every act of awareness, every partnership, and every effort to protect a child brings humanity closer to that goal.
“One walk. One mission. One polio-free world.”
The Rotary Club of Cubao Sunrise, together with District 3780 and the entire Rotary family, moves forward with renewed purpose—creating lasting impact, one step at a time.
END POLIO NOW. Because every child deserves a future free from polio.
